Henry Awards for Public Interest Documentary

In late spring, The Henry Awards for Public Interest Documentary will accept nominations for films that deepen our understanding of the world.

The first documentary film settled a debate about a horse’s stride. In the 150 years since, the issues documentaries explore and the insights they reveal have grown far more complicated. But the genre still combines a relentless pursuit of truth with an artistic perspective that adds depth and dimension to the critical issues of our time.

The best of these films reveal stories we have never encountered. They expose injustice, speak truth to power, amplify voices we’ve never heard, and inspire action born of new understanding. At a time when misinformation is rampant and democracy is being tested, we celebrate films that advance the public interest in pursuit of the common good.
